SUMMER FESTIVALS

 


The eighth annual Gilbert and Sullivan Festival runs from 28 July to 19
August in Buxton and features films, discussions and performances of
'The Mikado', 'Patience' and other operetta favourites.

The Merseyside International Street Festival brings dancers, dramatists,
acrobats, musicians, puppeteers, comedians and stilt-walkers from across

THEATRE SEASONS


New season details have been announced for the West Yorkshire Playhouse,
the Royal Court and the Palace Theatre in Watford. The Priestley Season
begins at the Leeds venue on 28 August with Patrick Stewart in 'Johnson
Over Jordan', while Watford offers plays by Rattigan, Ayckbourn and Liz
Lochhead. The Royal Court's new season features writing by up-and-coming dramatists as well as collaborations with the BBC and Out of Joint.

· 'The Art of Gwen John' celebrates the 125th anniversary of the
painter's birth in Pembrokeshire with an exhibition of her drawings and

'Fresh Art' is a new annual event, which allows artists from colleges
and studios around Britain to sell their art direct to the public. Go

NEW THEATRE PRODUCTIONS



· Ninette de Valois' production of 'Coppelia' is performed by the Royal
