Common Expressions
Remember these are fixed expressions!!!!! Learn them by heart!!!!

§ If the worst comes to the worst, we'll have to sell the house.
MEANING: if the situation gets very bad …….

§ If all else fails, we could send a courier with the documents
MEANING: if nothing else fails

§ What with one thing and another, I haven't had time to do the shopping.
MEANING: because of a serious of different circumstances

§ As far as I'm concerned,
MEANING: from my point of view

§ As luck would have it, the shop was closed when we arrived
MEANING: as a result of bad luck


Idioms connected with daily routine

§ Rise and shine!!!! (a command to get someone up out of bed, usually said to someone who doesn't want to get up / or because it's very early in the morning!!! - Me and my sister heard this from my dad when we were at school!!)
§ Get a bite to eat: (have a snack or a meal) mangiare un boccone
§ Have a nap: (have a short sleep)fare un sonnellino
§ Freshen up: (wash and tidy oneself) rinfrescarsi
§ Crash out: (sleep)
§ Put your feet up: (relax) rilassarsi
