A little bit of GRAMMAR
Hi
guys ! On this week's programme we told you the difference between
at the end and in the end. As usual you'll find the
written explanation here together with the practice exercises. Have
fun and no cheating!!!!
At
the end (of something) = at the time when something ends
e.g.
§ at the end of the day
§ at the end of the week
§ at the end of the month
§ at the end of the match
§ at the end of the film
§ at the end of December
§ at the end of the English course
§ at the end of the song
1.

2. At the end of the film, there was a standing ovation.
3. The fans went wild at the end of the match
N.B. you cannot say "in the end of something "you
must say "at the end of something"
The opposite of "at the end" is "at the beginning"
At the beginning of the match
. at the beginning of September
.
In
the end = finally. We use in the end when we say what
the final result of a situation was:
§ We had a lot of problems with our neighbours. In the end
we sold our house and bought another one.
§ Jason got more and more angry. In the end he just walked
out of the restaurant.
